An artist, creative therapist and author, Kelee Katillac’s first book, House of Belief: Creating Your Personal Style, was an Amazon.com best-seller and featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Her second book, Kids Sacred Places: Rooms for Believing & Belonging, was named one of the top independent mind/body/spirit books of 2005. She’s also founder of the House of Belief workshops for Habitat for Humanity International.
Today, Kelee writes “The Inspired Home” for Guideposts, the world's foremost inspirational magazine, as their House & Home expert.
In addition to The Oprah Winfrey Show, Kelee has appeared on the Discovery Channel’s Christopher Lowell Show, Pure Oxygen, the FamilyNet television network, and ABC’s “View From the Bay” with Spencer Christian. Kelee has appeared on the covers of Catholic Digest and Utne Reader and in the pages of USA Today, Better Homes & Gardens and Body + Soul magazine as well as The Detroit News, Chicago Tribune, The Kansas City Star, The Dallas Morning News – and another 300 newspapers nationwide.
In House of Belief, Kelee shared her own personal transformation – of discovering how to “design and believe”, to bring beauty indoors, to design spaces with meaning: a “house of belief.” Faced with severe depression while living in her rural Kansas trailer home more than 20 years ago, she created a unique, belief-based decorating style that has since helped millions of others learn how to express their creativity and individuality.
Kids’ Sacred Places explores how kids and their parents can take positive ideas – from the heart – and make something from it with their hands. This affirmative decorating process can result in a creative array of handmade chairs, pillows, curtains, window shades, mosaics, lamps, murals, walls, and much more.
Kelee continues to speak and present workshops on her belief-based design philosophy to audiences worldwide. Through her House of Belief™ Studios, she works with people from all walks of life, helping families reconnect with their creativity and potential by making their homes into an expression of their beliefs. She also partners with community volunteers to help limited-income homeowners and other at-risk groups through Habitat for Humanity, the Starlight Foundation and many others.
